Joe T. Hill

Joe T. Hill enlisted in the Army in 1962 and entered basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina on June 17, 62 and attended AIT at Fort Knox, Kentucky in September 1962. Since then, he has served in a number of enlisted leadership positions, from gunner to Command Sergeant Major. He retired after nearly 31 years of service to the nation on January 1, 1993.
Hill's assignments include: driver, loader, gunner, and tank commander in the 3rd Battalion, 33th Armor (First Brigade), 3rd Armored Division Kirchgeons Germany. Tank commander and platoon sergeant in the 4th Battalion, 35th Armor, 4th Armored Division, Illesheim, Germany; platoon leader in the 1st Battalion, 37th Armor, 4th Armored Division, Ansbach Germany, Platoon Sergeant and platoon leader, 1st Battalion 37th armored Katterbach Germany. First sergeant of Combat Support Company 1st Battalion37th Katterbach Germany. First Sergeant Company “B” and operations sergeant in the 1st Battalion, 37th Armor, Katterbach Germany, First Armored Division, Operation sergeant and first sergeant in First Brigade First Armored Division Illesheim Germany. Senior Adviser First Vietnamese Infantry, Team 3 Military Assistance Command Quang Tri Vietnam. Operation Sergeant 1st squadron 8th Cavalry, First Cavalry Division, First sergeant G troop 2nd 3rd Armored Cavalry regiment.
Hill served as the command sergeant major for the 1st Battalion, 37th Armor, and 4th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 5th squadron 17th Cavalry, 2nd Infantry Division. 4th combat aviation Brigade Germany, 3rd Brigade Third Armored Division Friedberg Germany. Command Sergeant Major Third Armored Division Gulf War; Frankfurt Germany, as the command sergeant major for the V Corps Frankfurt, Germany.
Hill attended numerous military schools and training programs to include: Armor Officer Basic Course; Armor Officer Advanced Course; First Sergeants Course; Pre-commission course; and the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 13. Hill holds an Associate of Applied Science degree from New York University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Ohio, University.
